John Guest Speedfit PEX Barrier Pipe

      PEX pipes

PEX pipes are flexible piping solutions made from cross-linked polyethylene and widely used in modern plumbing and heating systems. Their construction allows the pipe to follow bends, can reduce the number of fittings in many layouts and supports faster installation. PEX may be selected for underfloor heating, radiator connections, compatible hot and cold water services and other approved technical applications.

      PEX for underfloor heating

In underfloor-heating systems, pipework is installed beneath the floor as long, continuous circuits. Flexible PEX makes these loops easier to form. When pipe spacing and circuit length are correctly designed, circulation of the heat-transfer fluid supports even surface temperatures and efficient low-temperature heating.

For closed heating circuits, an oxygen diffusion barrier is important because it helps protect metallic system components. The PEX-a or PEX-b production method, layer structure, diameter, wall thickness, pressure class and temperature limit must be verified in the technical documentation for the exact product.

      Water supply and radiator circuits

The smooth internal surface of PEX provides low flow resistance and reduces the tendency for deposits compared with many traditional metal solutions. The polymer does not rust and, when correctly specified, is suitable for long-term service in water and radiator pipework. Only pipes and fittings approved for potable-water use should be installed in drinking-water systems.

A PEX system can operate with manifolds, thermostats, actuators and other control components. Designing the pipework, manifold and controls together makes zone-by-zone temperature management easier and improves the overall operation of the heating system.

      Selection and installation

The fitting system must be compatible with the pipe type, size and manufacturer requirements. Minimum bend radius should be respected, the pipe should be protected from ultraviolet exposure and mechanical damage, and the completed system must be pressure-tested before commissioning. Concealed joints should be kept to the minimum permitted by the project rules.

Euroclima supplies PEX pipes in different sizes and constructions for underfloor heating, radiator and water systems. Circuit length, heating load, working temperature, pressure and fitting compatibility should be assessed together when selecting a product.
