Midea M5OE-42HFN8-Q is a Multi Split DC Inverter outdoor unit designed to operate up to five compatible indoor air-conditioning units from a single outdoor system. It is suitable for large apartments, houses, villas, offices and commercial properties requiring climate control across several separate rooms while reducing the number of outdoor units on the building façade. Compatible wall-mounted, cassette, ducted and floor-ceiling indoor units can be combined according to approved Midea configurations.
Nominal cooling capacity is 12.30 kW, approximately 42,000 BTU/h, while nominal heating capacity is also 12.30 kW. Current Midea specifications indicate a cooling modulation range of approximately 2.05–14.15 kW and heating from 2.34–14.80 kW. Rated efficiency is EER 3.21 and COP 3.71.
Five refrigerant connections are provided. Liquid piping is 5 × Ø6.35 mm, while the gas side uses 4 × Ø9.52 mm plus 1 × Ø12.7 mm. Maximum combined piping length is 80 metres, with an individual indoor-unit run of up to 35 metres. Minimum individual piping length is 3 metres, while maximum elevation difference can reach 15 metres depending on the position of the outdoor unit.
The outdoor unit measures 946 × 410 × 810 mm, weighs 73.3 kg according to the current Midea Italy specification and delivers up to 3850 m³/h of airflow. Maximum sound pressure is listed at 62 dB(A), sound power at 68 dB(A), and the system uses a rotary compressor. Electrical supply is 220–240 V / 50 Hz / single phase, with maximum input of 4700 W.
The M5OE-42HFN8-Q uses R32 refrigerant. Current Midea Italy data lists a factory charge of 2.40 kg and factory pre-charge for a combined piping length of 37.5 metres. Outdoor operation is specified from -15°C to +50°C for cooling and -15°C to +24°C for heating.
